   2. Which life cycle model would you follow for developing a well-understood data processing application such as Payroll? Justify your answer.
   3. Discuss why it is impossible to catch up by adding more programmers in late stage of software development.
   4. Bring out the importance of software project estimation in the context of software project management.
   5. Discuss how a software project manager deals with the risk of unrealistic schedules and budgets.
   6. Do you agree with the statement that an easy and useful way to estimate software efforts and costs is to estimate the lines of code of the software?
   7. What are the five elements that are useful in the estimation of Function Points for software products?

2. 1. Name the different software production process models. Bring out a comparison of these process models.
   2. Briefly discuss the problems of a classical life cycle model of software development. What is an Iterative Waterfall model for the development of software?
   3. Discuss how Rapid Prototyping is useful in software development.

3. 1. Why is it necessary to plan software projects? What are the broad activities that encompass software project planning? What are the different levels at which software project planning is carried out?
   2. There are four important dimensions of a software projects - people, process, product, and technology. Discuss the implications of each of these four project dimensions for the success of a software project.

   1. Draw the project network. Find out the project completion time and the critical path.
   2. If only two software engineers are available to carry out the activities 7,8, and 9, i.e. these activities cannot be done simultaneously, find out how the project network will change. What will be the new project completion time? What is the new critical path?
   3. Discuss anyone metrix that may be used to monitor and control the project progress and completion.

   2. A software project, to be developed using 'c' language, is estimated at 300 Function Points. If a software engineer costs Rs. 50,000 per month, find out an estimate of the cost and the time of developing the software. Also estimate the number of software engineers required. For software projects developed using 'C' language, assume 1 Function Point equals to 50 Lines of Code.
   3. In b) above, if the software is to be compressed by 20%, by what percent will the effort estimate go up?

3. 1. Discuss how improvements of software economics can be brought about with object-oriented software development.
   2. What is an SPMP document? What does it contain?
   3. Name the different quality factors useful in the context of Software projects. Define each of them.
